Part-Time Mother's Helper / Childcare Support (Summer Position) We are looking for a warm, reliable and proactive Mother's Helper / Childcare Support to join our family for the summer months, starting as soon as possible. The role is for two days per week (Tuesdays and Fridays) during June, July and August, supporting me at home with a combination of childcare and household tasks. The hours would typically be 8.00-5pm or 8.30-5.30 though there is some flexibility if required. This is a hybrid role, with approximately 50% childcare and 50% household support, so we are looking for someone who is equally comfortable engaging an active toddler as they are helping to keep a home running smoothly. I am currently in the final trimester of pregnancy and experiencing some mobility and physical limitations, so I am looking for practical support to help manage both childcare and day-to-day household responsibilities. Childcare responsibilities * Caring for our happy and energetic 21-month-old son, Gabriel * Doing age-appropriate activities at home * Reading, talking and playing to support language development * Taking Gabriel to the park, local activities, museums or other outings * Preparing and serving his lunch and snacks * Encouraging outdoor play and exploration Gabriel loves music, particularly classical music, so if you enjoy singing or play an instrument, you will have an enthusiastic audience. Household support responsibilities * General tidying and helping maintain an organised home * Laundry and putting clothes away * Keeping on top of kitchen clear-up and light household cleaning * Occasional organising projects * Meal preparation, cooking and basic meal planning, food orders when needed * Running small errands if required About you We are looking for someone who: * Is kind, calm and dependable * Enjoys spending time with young children * Is happy to switch between childcare and household tasks as needed * Can work independently and use their initiative * Has a proactive approach and notices what needs doing without direction * Is organised and practical * Has previous childcare experience (formal or informal) About us We are a friendly, relaxed and tidy family. Gabriel is a cheerful and curious boy who loves being outdoors, exploring new places and listening to music. He understands words and sentences in English and French but not yet talking.  We are very happy to cover the cost of activities and outings with Gabriel, including museums, children's concerts and similar experiences and transport as required. Gabriel still enjoys a 1.5–2.5 hour nap in the middle of the day. During this time you are welcome to take a lunch break and, if I am at home, leave the house briefly if needed before turning to household tasks. We speak English and French at home. French is not required for the role, but would be a lovely bonus. This role would suit a nanny, maternity nurse, teaching assistant, early years practitioner, Norland student on holiday, or an experienced mother’s helper looking for a varied and rewarding family support role.
