What is Babysittor?:

Babysittor is a babysitting community based on trust that connects parents with babysitters recommended by other parents. Our service' success relies on trust, responsiveness, satisfaction and kindness that defines our community. Trust is our founding value and only concern since the very beginning of Babysittor.

Babysittor beginnings

The Babysittor community was born in 2013 when Pauline de Montesson started an internship in Paris. Aside she started to look after few families, but she was very quickly overwhelmed by other parents. Unable to show up to different places at the same time, Pauline recommended friends to these parents looking for babysitters when she was unavailable. Babysittor was born!.

Initially on Facebook, and now as an Application, the Babysittor community has never stopped to grow since. Today, thousands of parents relies on Babysittor each week to find the best babysitters around them.

How can I download the Babysittor App?

To start finding the best Babysittors (or families) near you, all you have to do is download the application on your mobile device's applicaton store. Here’s where to go: :

How does the App work?

Matching parents with babysitters happens the following way:

  • parents post an ad,
  • babysitters check out the ads posted by the parents,
  • the Babysittors apply to the ads that are of interest to them,
  • the parents check out the prospective Babysittors' profiles,
  • the parents hire their babysitter

In which countries does the app work?

The application works all of over France, England, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Spain.

For every ad, parents put the address of their choice to find the best babysitters close by and recommended by other parents.

Is the App free?

As you can imagine, developing an application and maintaining a great trusted service is time consuming and involves some expenses.

To continue our mission of helping parents to find trusted babysitters, we invite them when confirming an applicant, contacting, or accessing Facebook profile, to help us to continue thanks to a subscription.

Parents choose the offer corresponding to their needs:

  • Monthly for £19.90/month
  • Half-yearly for £14.90/month, so a total of £89.40
  • Yearly for £7.90/month, so a total of £94,80

The renewal of these subscriptions can be canceled at any time in the application from Settings, section « Manage my subscription ». The total sum of the offer 12 months or 6 months is taken at once on the day of subscription.

The application is free for babysitters who want to offer their services to parents, by applying to their babysitting offers.

How can I pay directly on the App?

The payment on the app is an easy solution for parents who don't want the hassle of paying in cash. p>

The transactions are taken care of by a company specialized in secure payments. If the parents prefer to pay via the application, the company will take a small commission to cover the transaction charges (an example of the rate is 73 cents for a transaction of 32 euros).

Why should I connect with Facebook?

When you connect Facebook with the application, you will easily be able to find Facebook friends that are already a part of the Babysittor community. This will allow you to add them into your Circle of Trust, see any mutual friends with other Members and receive recommended profiles and relevant ad posts.

How to delete my account?

To delete your Babysittor account, go to your Settings -> Edit my account. Scroll down to find the button Delete my account. We will delete all the data associated to your account.

App authorizations:

Notifications

The success of Babysittor relies on the responsiveness of the community. It is very important to authorize the notifications sent from the Babysittor app in order to completely benefit from our service. We will never send pesky notifications, just those relative to your ads. This is how to activate notifications on your Smartphone for Babysittor :

  • Apple : Settings -> Notifications -> Babysittor -> Authorize Notifications
  • Android : Paramètres -> Applications -> Babysittor

Address Book

To help your trusted community grow and find new sponsors, or add favorite babysitters, we highly recommend you authorize access to your contact list on your phone. This will allow you to see who on your contact list is already in the Babysittor community..

Photo Camera / Access to your camera

When adding photos on your profile, we will give you two options: take a photo with your phone's camera or select a photo from those already on your phone. By authorizing access, you will be able to successfully upload photos.

How old do I have to be to be a Babysittor?

In France, you can start babysitting at age 16. Any minor wishing to work must be authorized to do so by their legal representative (father or mother for example), except in the case of an emancipated minor. For more information, you can check out this website Service-Public.

Grade your babysitter:

Why should you grade your babysitter?

Because trust is the value that binds the Babysittor community, we think it is crucial that parents share their experience with a Babysittor with other Member parents considering a Babysittor.

Grading your Babysittor is mandatory once you have confirmed their hire. However, a trusting relationship is double-ended! Therefore, you can find the grades and comments you have received by your Babysittors on your “Public Profile” located in the foruth tab of your appn “Profile and Settings”.

How can I grade my babysitter?

Once the babysitting session has started, you will be able to review your babysitter. Under your offer, the button "Review" will appear and you can leave your grade and comment.

To select the grade you would like to give to your babysitter, all you have to do is glide your finger along the stars and choose how many you like to give them.Don’t hesitate to leave a comment that explains the grade you have given them!

If you decide not to grade the babysitter immediately, you can always go back to your past babysitting sessions in the second tab in your app. “Historic”.

#tip : wait until the end of the babysitting session to grade your Babysittor. Once the grade has been given, you can no longer change it.

Manage your ads:

How do I post an ad?

To start going out whenever you'd like, just click on "Post a job" in the first tab class="js-anchor" href="#parents-onglets-accueil">BBS” in the app. When you want to post your ad, we recommend including all relevant information about the babysitting session:

  • date,
  • starting time,
  • approximate end time,
  • the rate (either by hour or a flat rate),
  • the location of the session (the complete address is only available to the Babysittor you’ve confirmed),
  • your home’s floor and entry code when applicable (visible only to the confirmed Babysittor),
  • the children and their age,
  • a description with any complementary information

Once this is posted, you will be able to receive candidates. Then, your only task will be to choose the ideal Babysittor and have fun on your night out!p>

#conseil : Don't forget to activate your notifications to stay up to date on your ad

How can I see a babysitter's profile?

Once you see babysitters’ applications appear under your ad, you can click on them to see more information. You will have access to :

  • their photo
  • first + last name
  • their age
  • their grade average
  • the number of grades received
  • a small note for their application (not mandatory)li>
  • more photos
  • their sponsors
  • your mutual connections
  • grades left by other parents that have trusted them with their children
  • if the candidate can go home by their own means
  • if the candidate has entered their IBAN and can be paid directly via the app
  • Their number of Facebook friends with a direct link to their public Facebook page
  • since when the candidate has been on babysitter

How can I contact candidates?

When you receive applications, you can contact a candidate by going on their profile and by clicking on the tab on the top right hand side. We suggest you call or text the candidate if you need any more information before making a final decision.

Once you have made your choice and confirmed your babysitter, you can contact them directly by pressing the "Contact" tab under your ad.

How can I confirm my choice?

Once you have reviewed several candidates and have made your choice, all you have to do is click “Confirm” in the profile or application of the ideal Babysittor

What happens to the other candidates once I've selected one?

Once you have found your perfect Babysittor and that you have confirmed, we will send out notifications to the other candidates to let them know and thank them for their time.

How can I change my ad?

You cannot change your ad in this version of the app. We are working on the next version that will allow you to do so, even after posting the ad.

How can I delete my ad?

To delete your ad, first find your ad in the first tab of the app “BBS”, on the three dots located on the top righthand side in order to delete your ad.

If you have already confirmed a candidate, but that you no longer need a Babysittor, it is recommended you give an explanation to the Babysittor about why you are canceling. We will send them a notification to let them know that you have deleted your ad. Don't hesitate to first send out a text message to your Babysittor to avoid surprising them when they receive our cancellation message.

How can I find a past candidate if I have already confirmed someone else?

If you would like to cancel your babysitter to see other applications but you have already confirmed the babysitter, you can still do so! You don't have to delete your ad but can simply click on the three dots on the top righthand side of your ad and select "Unbook my babysitter". We will send a notification to let the babysitter know that you have unbooked them. Don't hesitate to first send a text message to the babysitter to avoid them being surprised by our cancellation message.p>

You can find other candidates who will re-confirm their availability, and you will be able to receive new applications.

If you have payed, or graded your babysitter, you will no longer be able to delete your ad.

#tip : if you would like to find a new babysitter because the confirmed babysittor did not show up, please don't hesitate to contact us directly at contact@babysittor.com. Building a trustworthy community is our priority!

Paying your Babysittor:

How much should I pay my babysitter?

You get to choose between an hourly rate or a flat rate. The price is up to you, however, parents tend to adapt the price depending on the following criteria :

  • the location (we've noticed prices are slightly higher in biggest cities)
  • the number of children,
  • the age of the children,
  • the babysitting hours,
  • the expected tasks,
  • the length (if you pay a flat rate)

If you offer a fair and decent price, babysitters will apply to your offer!

How can I pay my babysitter?

You have two options:

  • via the secure payment platform in the App
  • directly to your babysittor

The payment via the App is a feature offered to parents, but is in no way mandatory. You get to choose the method that better suits you.

Why pay through the App?

We decided to integrate a payment platform into the app because of high demand from parents! By paying through the app, you can: :

  • go directly home without going to a cashpoint
  • stop looking for spare cash in between your couch cushions,
  • pay the exact amount due

The amount will be directly deposited on the babysitter's bank account !

How to pay through the app?

Once the babysitting session has started, we offer the possibility to pay your Babysittor via the app. Under your ad, you will see the button “Pay” which will allow you to make a secure transfer to your Babysittor. Wait until you know how long the babysitting session will be before paying your Babysittor. Once the payment is made, you will no longer be able to modify it.p>

On the payment screen, you will be able to ajust the babysitting hours in order to pay the exact amout due. If you would like to change it, you can also directly enter the amount by clicking the indicated price.p>

When making your first payment via the app, it will ask you your payment cards details in order to process the payment. Transaction fees will be disclosed for every payment. This commission is necessary to pay for the company that manages our secure payment system. Babysittor makes no profit on the payments made via the app.

If you would not like to pay via the app, click on “I'll pay differently€ under the payment tab.

Are my payments and bank details safe and secure?

We use Strip, a business dedicated to secure online payments and bank information data hosting. Strip is certified PCI level 1, the highest level of security so you don't have to worry about it!

What is the transaction delay when paying through the app?

The transaction delay for payments made via the app is 4 working days. This is the time needed so that the funds leave your accounts and arrive on the babysitter's account. Weekend days are not considered working days and can thus slightly delay the transfer.

We are currently discussing the matter with our payment provider to try to shorten this delay.

How can I declare my babysitter?

When using the Babysittor application, you must respect the rules and regulations pertaining to the employment of persons in your household. You can learn more about this in our Terms of Service [Conditions Générales d’Utilisation] -> 10. Do babysitters have to be declared?

Your favorite Babysittors:

Why should I add babysitters in my favorites?

We highly encourage you add babysitters that you know or that you have met via the app to your favorites. By adding them to your favorites:

  • you can notify them first when posting future ads,
  • you can rank your favorites in order to only let your first choice know about an ad,
  • your favorite babysitter will receive a text message alerting them of a new ad

If your favorite babysitters are not available, we will make sure other babysitters of the community are aware of this. We can do so with the help of an algorithm that is based on trust that first alerts babysitters that are close to you and recommended by your Circle of Trust. Isn't that smart?

How can I add Babysittors to my favorites?

To add babysitters to your favorites, all you have to do is go to the third tab of your app“Community”, section “My Favorites By clicking on the magnifying glass, you can then search within the babysittors already Members of the Babysittor community and add them to your favorites.

Furthermore, at the end of a babysitting session, when you have graded the Babysittor with 4 stars or more, we will automatically ask you via your ad if you would like to add that Babysittor to your favorites.

Your trust community:

What is your trust community?

Your trust community encompasses all the parents and babysitters that are members of the Babysittor community that you know. The Circle of Trust allows each member to strengthen their existing ties with other members. When consulting babysitter profiles, you will be able to see which members you have in common in your Circles of Trust. You will also be able to see who your potential babysitters’ sponsors.

#tip : To experience Babysittor to its fullest, we highly recommend that you add all of the members you know well to your own Circle of Trust! The larger your circle becomes, the more likely it will become for you to be matched with with babysitters you or your fellow trusted members know.

How can I add members to my trust community?

To add babysitters and parents you know to your trust community, you must go on the third tab of your app“Community”, section “My Circle€. Once you're there, you can click on the green button “Add Sponsors€ if you don't have anyone yet or click on the magnifying glass on the top righthand side. You have 2 options to add sponsors :

  • â€Search my Contacts€ to search your own contact list to find contacts that are already members of the Babysittor community
  • “Searth the Community©â€ to directly look for another member of the Babysittor community

Tabs in your App:

BBS/Home

1. POST AN AD
This is where you can post new ads when needed.You can do so thanks to the button "Post an ad".

2. BABYSITTING IN SESSION
This happens when the babysitting has started. You will find your ad at the top of this section. This will allows you to have a quick access to your babysitter's contact information and the ad itself.

3. BABYSITTINGS TO BE CONFIRMED
These are the ads that you have posted but for which you haven't confirmed a babysitter.

4. CONFIRMED BABYSITTINGS
These are your ads for future babysitting session for which you have already confirmed a babysitter.

5. PAST BABYSITTINGS
These are recently completed babysitting sessions for which we'd like you to grade and pay your babysitter. Three hours after the end of the session, the ad will automatically be sent to the app's second tab “Archives”.

You'll find here your past ads for which you found and confirmed babysitters via the app. If not already done so, we encourage you to :

  • Pay your babysitter,
  • Grade your babysitter,
  • Add your babysitter in your favorites if you have given them a grade of 4 or above

How can I see current ads?

To look at the current ads posted by parents all you have to do is click on an ad in the first tab of your appl “BBS”. Upon opening the ad, you will have access to detailed information about the requested babysitting:

  • the date,
  • the starting time,
  • expected end time,
  • the first and last name of the parent,
  • the rate (either per hour or a flat rate),
  • the distance between the town where the babysitting is located and the address you have provided on your profile
  • the number of Babysittors that have applied to this ad,
  • a description of the ad if that has been provided by the parent,
  • the names and ages of the children to be babysitted,
  • the location of the babysitting session (the complete address will only be accessible to you once the parents have chosen their Babysittor and confirmed their choice),
  • the public profile of the parent

How can you consult the parent's profile?

The profile is in the ad, right after the information concerning the babysitting session, you can consult the profile of the parent that posted the ad. Here is the information that you will find:

  • their photo
  • their first + last name
  • their global average grade
  • the number of grades they have received
  • their description (not mandatory)
  • more photos
  • their sponsors
  • your mutual connections
  • the comments left by other babysitters
  • if the parent can pay by payment card via the application
  • their number of Facebook friends with a direct link to their public profile
  • since when they have been members on the Babysittor App

How can I apply to an ad?

You have to click on the button “Apply” qthat is located in the ad, under the parent's description if they have given one.

You will then land on a screen where you will be able to add a personalised note for your application to that specific babysitting session, this is where you can make a difference and be hired! You do not need to add your phone number or your CV all over again, the parent already has access to them via your application.

It is up to you to say if you can go home after the babysitting by your own means or if you need to be taken home. There is no point in lying, this is a real commitment you are making to the parents. Also, it will avoid any uncomfortable surprises at the end of the babysitting which could result in a bad grade!

Once you have applied to an ad, you will be able to find that application in your second tab “My babysittings”.

#tip : When applying to an ad, you are committing to being available if the parents decide to confirm your application. There is no point in applying to a babysitting session you know you won't be able to honor it.

How can I contact the parents?

You cannot contact a parent directly until you have been confirmed by them via their ad. This is done to avoid parents from getting solicited by babysitters when they haven't yet made their choice..

Once your application is confirmed, you will find it in the second tab “My Babysittings”, onbutton “Contact” under the ad where you can send a text message or directly call the parent.

How can I know if my application has been selected?

You have to activate your notifications to always be updated of your recent activity in the app. You can then follow where your potential babysitting sessions are at in the tab “My Babysittings”. You will be able to easily see the ads for which you have been confirmed and those that are still pending confirmation.

When the parents do confirm, we will send you a text message so that you have access to all the information and details about the babysitting session.

#conseil :if you are still waiting on the confirmation of a babysitting session but you know you can no longer go, you should immediately withdraw your application.

What happens to my other applications once I have been confirmed?

If a parent confirms you for a babysitting session, the other applications you may have within the same time frame will be automatically withdrawn.This avoids you from being double booked at the same time!

Why should I withdraw an active application?

If you are no longer interested by a babysitting session or just no longer available, you should absolutely withdraw your application. This avoids you having to cancel a babysitting that has been otherwise confirmed by the parents and they won't have to start the search for a babysitter all over again.

How do I cancel a babysitting session?

To cancel a babysitting session for which you have already been confirmed, you need to contact the parents and ask them to unbook you on their ad.You will not be able to do so on your own, even from your app. By unbooking you, the parents will be able to activate applications that were send for that ad and, thus, find a babysitter to replace you quickly.

#Tip : Don't wait until the last moment to tell the family you are not available, they will be grateful to have the time to find an available babysitter. If ever you have friends that are available to replace you, don't hesitate to put them in contact with the parents.

How can I see ads in another town?

The viewing of ads is matched with the address you have given in your profile. If you would like to see ads that are close to a different address ,you just have to modify that information within the fourth tab on the app. “Profile & Settings”, in the section “Edit my profile”.

#tip : You can also modify the filters in the first tab to see all of the activated ads.

What should I do if I am having a hard time during a babysitting session?

If you are having a hard time whilst babysitting and that you need urgent help, we encourage you to :

How do I get paid?:

What is the rate for a babysitting session?

The parents decide on the price when making the ad and you implicitly accept this price when you apply to the ad. Parents will adapt their prices in accordance with the following criteria :

  • the location (rates are slightly higher in Paris)
  • the number of children,
  • the age of the children,
  • the hours of the babysitting session,
  • les the requested tasks,
  • the length (if the parents decide to pay a flat rate)

If you think the proposed price is fair, go ahead and apply!

How am I paid?

The parents can pay you 2 different ways: :

  • via the secure payment system integrated in our app. To do so, you must log in your IBAN in the fourth tab of the app “Profile & Settings”, “My bank account”
  • directly at the end of the babysitting session

Why should I get paid via the app?

The parents decide the payment method they prefer. Certain parents don't pay via the app whereas, for others, it is a decisive factor when choosing a Babysittor. We decided to integrate a payment solution into the app to help make things easier for the parents. This allows parents:

  • to come directly home without having to go to the “Bank”,
  • no longer hassle with cash

Once the payment is made by the parent, the money will arrive directly on your bank account! You can see the transactions made on the second tab of your app “My Babysittings”, under the relevant ads.

#tip : Because most parents prefer to pay online via the platform, the babysitters that have disclosed their IBAN get priority access to ads.

What is the payment delay when paid via the app?

The transaction delay for secure payments made through the application is 4 working days. This is the time that is takes for the money to go from the parents’ accounts to your account. Weekend days do not count as working days, therefore, the delay can be a bit longer.

We are currently discussing with our payment company on ways to shorten this delay.

How are my payment details and information secure?

We use Strip, a business dedicated to secure online payments and bank information data hosting. Strip is certified PCI level 1, the highest level of security so you don't have to worry about it!

How do I legally declare what I’m paid?

You must declare the wage that you earn when using the Babysittor application.This subject is detailed in the [Terms of Services] -> 10. Must we declare babysitters?

Your favorite Parents:

Who are my favorite parents?

You favorite parents are those who you know and enjoy working for <3 We highly encourage parents to add babysitters in their favorites tab. When you are in the favorites tab, this allows you to :

  • Get priority access to their ads before other babysitters in the community,
  • be able to do more babysitting sessions for those families,
  • get a text message immediately when a parent that has identified you as N1 favorite posts an ad

If you do not have any favorite parents, you can still receive ads from parents. We will make sure that you regularly receive the best ads thanks to the trust algorithm that we’ve been developing. It allows us to let babysitters close by that have been recommended by the parents’ Circle of Trust know about their latest ad. Isn't that smart?

How can parents add me to their favorites?

You cannot add parents directly to your favorites, they must do it themselves.

Parents can add you to their favorites list at the end of a babysitting session for which they have given you a grade of 4 or above.

They can also directly click the third tab on their app “Community”, section “My Favorites”.

#tip : be a great babysitter and don't hesitate to invite parents you know on the application so that they can add you to their favorites. This will definitely boost your number of babysitting sessions!

Grading the parents:

Why should I grade the parents?

Trust is the driving value within the Babysittor community. Therefore, we believe that your feedback is precious for Babysittors that will be babysitting families for the first time.

Grading is mandatory once you have done a babysitting session and you will also be graded by the parents. However, a trusting relationship is double-ended! To find out the grades and comments you may have received have a look at your “Public Profile” in the fourth tab of your app “Profile & Settings”.

How should I grade the parents?

Once the babysitting session has begun, the app gives you access to grade the parents. This can only be done in the second tab of your application “My Babysittings”. Under the ad, you will find a button that says “Grade€ where you can give your feedback on the parents.

To select the grade you would like to give the parents, all you have to do is glide your finger along the stars and choose how many you would like to give them. Don't hesitate to leave a note explaining your grade!

#tip : wait until the end of the babysitting session to grade the parents. Once you have graded them, you will no longer be able to come back and change it.

Your Circle of Trust:

What is the Circle of Trust?

Your Circle of Trust encompasses all the parents and babysitters that are members of the Babysittor community that you know. The Circle of Trust allows each member to strengthen their existing ties with other members. The larger your circle becomes, the better the chances will be of you being alerted first about new ads. This will also let you see the mutual connections you may have with Member parents.

#tip : we highly recommend that you build your Circle of Trust by including all the members you know well in order to experience the Babysittor community to its fullest! The larger your Circle of Trust is, the more chances we have of connecting you with parents you may already know.

How can I add members to my Trusted Community?

To add babysitters and parents you know to your Circle of Trust, you must go on the third tab of your app“Community”, section “My Circle€. Once you're there, you can click on the green button “Add Sponsors€ if you don't have anyone yet or click on the magnifying glass on the top righthand side. You have 2 options to add sponsors :

  • â€Search my Contacts€ to search your own contact list to find contacts that are already members of the Babysittor community
  • “Searth the Communicty©â€ to directly look for another member of the Babysittor community

Tabs in your App:

BBS/Accueil

This is where you can apply to the ads posted by the parents. All you have to do is click an ad to see the details. If you are available, all you have to do is click"Apply" within the ad. You will then be able to find all of your applications within the second tab “My Babysittings”.

My Babysittings

This is the tab where you can track your activity on Babysittor. You will find your:

1. CONFIRMED BABYSITTINGS
If the parents have confirmed one of your applications, this is where you will find the ad, CONGRATULATIONS!! You will also be able to see how you can get to the location thanks to Google Maps or CityMapper in order to be right on time!

#tip : You can click on the ad to go over the details of the babysitting and learn the children’s names before arriving. This will definitely impress the parents.

2. PENDING APPLICATIONS
These are all of the applications that you have submitted for which the parents haven't answered yet. If you know that you are no longer available for certain ads, please withdraw your application immediately.

3. PAST BABYSITTINGS
The babysitting sessions you have recently completed for which we would like you to grade the parents if you haven't already done so. You will also be able to see your payments whether they were made through the app or in person.
